Gustav Klimt was an Austrian painter who is associated with the Symbolist and Art Nouveau movements. Some of his best known works were completed during his 'golden phase.' Many of these paintings included gold leaf such as The Kiss, Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I and Judith I. Other famous works by Klimt include Tree of Life, Mother and Child (from Three Ages of Woman), Danae and Forest of Beech Trees.
Many of Gustav Klimt's paintings focused on the female form and the theme of dominant and powerful women.
