Johnny Cash was a country music singer with a career that spanned over 50 years. He is often cited as one of the 20th century's most influential musicians from his start at Sun Records to his later recordings with Rick Rubin. Cash's deep voice, black clothing and free prison concerts have become legendary. One of those concerts at San Quentin Prison spawned the iconic image of Cash flipping the middle-finger at a photographer.
'Walk the Line,' a film about the life of Johnny Cash was released in 2005. It starred Joaquin Phoenix as Cash and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter, his eventual wife. The movie was nominated for five Academy Awards with Witherspoon winning for Best Actress.
