The Ottawa Senators are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa, Ontario. They are members of the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The club was founded in 1992 by Bruce Firestone. The team is named after the famous original Senators hockey club of 1893 to 1934 which won 10 Stanley Cups and was one of the founding five teams of the NHL.
