José Victoriano González-Pérez, better known as Juan Gris, was a Spanish painter and sculptor born in Madrid on March 23, 1887. After studying mechanical drawing at the Escuela de Artes y Manufacturas in Madrid, Gris moved to France where he lived and worked for most of his life. His works are closely connected to the emergence of an innovative artistic genre - Cubism, creating several of the movement's most distinctive works.
