The University of Alabama (also known as Alabama, UA, or colloquially as 'Bama) is a public coeducational university located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. Founded in 1831, it is the flagship university of the University of Alabama System. Alabama's athletic teams are known as the Crimson Tide. Alabama competes in the Southeastern Conference (Western Division) of the NCAA's Division I. Alabama fields men's teams in football, basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, swimming & diving, tennis and track & field. Women's teams are fielded in basketball, cross country, golf, gymnastics, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field and volleyball.
