Sandro Boticelli (1445-1510) born Alessandro Di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi was an early renaissance painter of the Florentine school. He painted under the patronage of Lorenzo de Medici. His style is noted for its combination of gothic realism and classical subject matter. His famous works include The Birth of Venus, Primavera and The Adoration of the Magi.
