Details: This poster is of the vintage ad created by Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen. It shows two cats, one striped and one black. At the top it says 'A la Bodiniere, 18 Rue S Lazare, Exposition de L'oeuvre dessine et peint de T.A. Steinlen.'
Theophile Alexandre Steinlen, frequently referred to as just Steinlen (November 10, 1859 - December 13, 1923), was a Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker. Le Chat Noir was a famous 19th century cabaret in the notoriously bohemian Montmartre district of Paris. Perhaps best known now by the iconic Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen poster art, in its heyday it was a bustling nightclub - part artist salon, part rowdy music hall.
