A Christmas Story (1983) is an American holiday comedy film directed by Bob Clark based on the writings of Jean Shepherd. It recounts the memories of a young boy named Ralphie of one particularly eventful Christmas season where he asked for "an official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle." The film has become a holiday classic and usually airs on a repeated twenty four hour long marathon on Christmas day. The film stars Peter Billingsley as Ralphie, Ian Petrella as Randy, Darrin McGavin as Mr. Parker and Melinda Dillon as Mrs. Parker. It is narrated by Jean Shepherd as Ralphie as an adult.
