The Arctic Wolf (Canis lupus arctos), also called Polar Wolf or White Wolf, is a mammal of the Canidae family, and a subspecies of the Gray Wolf. Arctic Wolves inhabit the Canadian Arctic, Alaska and the northern parts of Greenland. The Gray Wolf (Canis lupus, also spelled Grey Wolf, also known as Timber Wolf or Wolf) is a mammal in the order Carnivora. Wolves function as social predators and hunt in packs organized according to strict, rank-oriented social hierarchies.
