The Dead Kennedys were an American hardcore punk band, formed in San Francisco, California in 1978. Pioneers of hardcore during the 1980s, the band gained a large underground following in the international punk music scene. Their music mixed the more experimental elements of British 1970s punk with the raw energy of the 1980s American hardcore punk scene. Dead Kennedys' songs mixed deliberately shocking lyrics with satirical and sarcastic criticism of social and political issues of the Reagan era. Their albums include Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, Plastic Surgery Disasters, Frankenchrist, Bedtime for Democracy, and In God We Trust, Inc. Popular songs include California Uber Alles, Holiday in Cambodia, Police Truck, Kill the Poor, Viva las Vegas, Let's Lynch the Landlord, Drug Me, Too Drunk to Fuck, Nazi Punks Fuck off, Bleed for Me, Halloween, Moon Over marin, MTV Get Off the Air, Jock-O-Rama, Chickenshit Conformist, I Fought the Law (And I Won).
