Details: This poster is of Nighthawks, by Edward Hopper. It shows people sitting in a downtown diner late at night. Nighthawk may be Hopper's take on the term Night Owl, used to describe someone who stays up especially late. The scene was inspired by a diner (since demolished) in Greenwich Village.
Edward Hopper (July 22, 1882 - May 15, 1967) was an American painter and printmaker. While most popularly known for his oil paintings, he was equally proficient as a watercolorist and printmaker in etching. The most well known of Hopper's paintings is Nighthawks (1942). All of Hopper's paintings have a concentration on the subtle interaction of human beings with their environment and with each other.
