Details: This poster is of the vintage ad for Divan Japonais, created by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. It shows a woman in black, Jane Avril in the foreground, and Yvette Guilbert, on stage with her willowy figure and the black gloves she wore up to her elbows. To Jane's right, is literary and music critic Edouard Dujardin. At the top it says 'Divan Japonais'.
Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa or simply Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (24 November 1864 – 9 September 1901) was a French painter, printmaker, draughtsman, and illustrator, whose immersion in the colourful and theatrical life of fin de siècle Paris yielded an œuvre of exciting, elegant and provocative images of the modern and sometimes decadent life of those times. Toulouse-Lautrec is known along with Cézanne, Van Gogh, and Gauguin as one of the greatest painters of the Post-Impressionist period.
This poster is usually printed with a thin white edge border.
