Details: This poster shows the Hollywood sign when it was changed to read Hollyweed in 1976. The poster is produced from the original black and white negative. On January 1st 1976, a new marijuana law had been implemented by the state of California. It changed the charge of possession of marijuana from a felony to a misdemeanor.
On January 1st 1976, Danny Finegood (& friends) climbed to the top of Mt. Lee with four 6 x 12 foot sheets. Using only stones and rope Danny and friends were able to change the sign without even having to climb on it. The Hollywood Sign is a famous landmark in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles, CA, spelling out the name of the area in 50-foot high white letters.
