Kings of Leon is an alternative rock band from Nashville, Tennessee formed in 1999 by the brothers Caleb Followill (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Jared Followill (bass guitar and backing vocals, keyboards) and Nathan Followill (drums and backing vocals), with their cousin Matthew Followill (lead guitar and backing vocals). Both their father (who was actually named Ivan) and grandfather went by the name 'Leon', which is where the band gets its name.
