Nikita (re-titled La Femme Nikita in some countries) is a 1990 French action film written and directed by Luc Besson. Nikita is a young lady who with two Nihilist friends commit robbery and murder while on drugs. After her trial she is not executed or taken to prison, but to a school for special operatives. She is told that Nikita no longer exists and she will be trained to pay back society for what she has done, as a spy/assassin. It stars Anne Parillaud as Nikita. In 1993, Warner Bros. Remade Nikita in English as Point of No Return (The Assassin), directed by John Badham and starring Bridget Fonda. Nikita also inspired the 1991 Hong Kong action film Black Cat. A TV series based on the film, titled La Femme Nikita was created in 1997.
