Marjorie Acker Phillips (1894 - 1985) was an American painter. The Phillips Collection is an art museum founded by Duncan Phillips in 1921 in Washington, D.C. It was America?s first museum of modern art and was nurtured by both Duncan and Marjorie Phillips. Among the artists represented in the collection are Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Gustave Courbet, El Greco, Georges Braque, Paul Klee, Winslow Homer, James McNeill Whistler and Mark Rothko.
