Rick DiPietro (born September 19, 1981 in Winthrop, Massachusetts) is a professional American goaltender who currently plays for the NHL's New York Islanders. He was drafted first overall by the Islanders in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, out of Boston University. DiPietro was the first goaltender ever to be selected with the number one overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft, and was just the fourth American to occupy the top draft position.
