Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was a Spanish born painter and sculptor. In his childhood and adolescence ihe painted in a realistic style, but became famous and noted for experimenting with other techniques and disciplines starting as early as the first decade of the twentieth century. He began traveling to Paris from Madrid in 1900, but removed there permanently after World War I. He went through various "periods" in his work, notably The Blue and Rose periods, and his cubism period.
