Rocky (1976) is the story of an underdog boxer from Philadelphia (Sylvester Stalone), who gets a chance at the heaveyweight title, fighting the champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). Although Rocky doesn't win the fight, he goes the distance, surving all 15 rounds, and gains a moral victory. Rocky was written by Stalone and produced indpedently and won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1976.
