Details: This poster is of Fall Splendor Deer, by Ruane Manning. It shows a buck head with a nice set of antlers. In the background is a wooded area in fall and another deer grazing.
Deer are the ruminant mammals forming the family Cervidae. Male deer of all species (except the Chinese water deer) grow and shed new antlers each year ¿ in this they differ from permanently horned animals such as antelope. For most deer the male is called a buck and the female is a doe, but terminology varies according to the size of the species. For many medium-sized deer the male is a stag and the female a hind. The word hart is an old alternative word for stag. Young deer are often called a fawn. Deer are widely distributed, and hunted, with indigenous representatives in all continents except Antarctica and Australia.
This poster is usually printed with a thin white edge border.
