Details: This poster shows a black and white photo of Louis Armstrong by Ted Williams. He is playing his trumpet. At the bottom it says 'The Ted William's Collection, Louis Armstrong, University of Chicago Theater, Chicago 1962.'
Louis Armstrong (4 August 1901 - July 6, 1971) (also known by the nicknames Satchmo, for satchel-mouth, and Pops) was an American jazz musician. Armstrong was a charismatic, innovative performer whose musical skills and bright personality transformed jazz from a rough regional dance music into a popular art form. He first achieved fame as a trumpeter, but toward the end of his career he was known as a vocalist and an influential jazz singer.
