Details: The painters who would become the Group of Seven shared a love of Canada's backcountry and impatience with its conservative art establishment. Impelled by the spirit of outdoorsman and artist Tom Thomson, they painted in an aggressively impressionistic style,and in time, effectively established a point of departure for modern Canadian art.
