Details: This poster is of the vintage ad created by Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen, of Tournee du Chat Noir. It shows a black cat sitting looking out with its yellow eyes. It says 'Tournee du Chat Noir de Rodolphe Salis.'
Theophile Alexandre Steinlen, frequently referred to as just Steinlen (November 10, 1859 - December 13, 1923), was a Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker. Le Chat Noir was a famous 19th century cabaret in the notoriously bohemian Montmartre district of Paris. Perhaps best known now by the iconic Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen poster art, in its heyday it was a bustling nightclub - part artist salon, part rowdy music hall.
