Details: This poster shows five key figures in Communism: Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Mao Zedong, Joseph Stalin, and Fidel Castro. This shows them holding drinks and wearing party hats. Mao is behind a set of turntables, and Marx is breakdancing. At the top it says 'Welcome to the Party!'

Communism is a socioeconomic structure and political ideology that promotes the establishment of an egalitarian, classless society based on common ownership of the means of production and property in general. Leninists have attempted to produce communist societies by setting up political parties, which in some cases have become governments. These attempts have never produced the 'pure' communist societies envisoned by Marx, and have led to totalitarian states. The dominant forms of communism, such as Leninism, Stalinism, Maoism and Trotskyism are based on Marxism, but non-Marxist versions of communism (such as Christian communism and anarchist communism) also exist.
